So the "pro-life" party decides that suicide prevention is not a "Texas value." Got it. This new Tech Oasis is also a homophobic cesspool of ingrained hate-homophobia, internalized homophobia, and finally LGBTQ+ suicides. Literally made and supported by design.
The cherry on top-Texas social workers can now turn away LGBTQ clients and those with a disability. The state board of social work examiners voted unanimously to change a section of its code of conduct last month following a recommendation from Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, to remove protections for sexual orientation, gender identity and disability. Abbott’s office said the change was suggested because the board’s nondiscrimination clause went beyond the state’s policy on social work, according to The Associated Press. So in the state of Texas medical rights are being denied, literally by the people we turn to obtain help.
The Human Rights Campaign says 2021 is the worst year on record for anti-LGBTQ legislation in Texas. Bills up for consideration included HB 1399, which could impact a trans-child's ability to receive gender-affirming medical care, as well as SB 1646, which would punish a parent facilitating that care for child abuse. Literally jailing a parent that affirms the existence of their child, by labeling that affirmation and autonomy an abuse- and all for evangelical political gain and vote.

From hell houses to this new shit of getting rid of a youth suicide line. Plain EVIL. Evangelicals have spent years to get local and state power. They are the bankroll of the GOP. Trump has then exacerbated this by feeding their hunger for metaphorical red meat. So now sadly no one in Texas can hold them accountable because they now have codified rigging the system with gerrymandering and their election laws removing voting rights. The ultra-conservative politicians are criminals that have created a complete pipeline of suicide and murder of LGBTQ youth.
For all you folks moving here to work for Tesla and other tech companies be prepared to put your children into this environment that does not care if a Texas child kills themselves. Let alone place your children into an educational system that lacks critical thinking and pushes herd mentality. This is all about power and control. I am so tired of this fight when there are so many other things we all could be working towards together.
The “Hope Speech” became Harvey Milk’s stump speech after giving a skeletal version when he declared his candidacy in 1978 for the San Francisco Gay Freedom Day Parade, later known as the Gay Pride Parade. For that parade, Milk commissioned his friend Gilbert Baker to come up with a logo; Baker created the gay pride Rainbow Flag, which first waved at that parade.In the speech, Milk references adversaries Anita Bryant and California legislator John Briggs, who campaigned nationally against gay rights. Addressing gay youths across the United States afraid to come out, Milk cites his own election as a gay politician in San Francisco as a testament of hope. For those youths contemplating suicide or staying in the closet, there were two new options, Milk said: “Go to California, or stay … and fight.”
